Bridging the Digital Divide

Bridging the Digital Divide

About This Campaign

We’re working to bridge the digital divide for LA College Promise students by providing entry-level laptops.

Many LA College Promise students read or write assignments or take class notes on their phones. By providing a basic laptop, we help them become digitally fluent, and ready to transfer to a 4-year college or enter the workforce with jobs that will support them in their careers.

We are working with a unique non-profit to solve this problem.   More than 150,000 computers are disposed of every day in the U.S.

human-I-T is a non-profit organization based in Long Beach that brings together these two problems to create one solution. They take unwanted laptops, upgrade the software and refurbish them.

Our partnership with human-I-T has allowed us to provide these refurbished laptops to the LA College Promise Students at the low cost of just $90 each.
